WIFWULF: Late Summer Update!
– Mon, Aug 28, 2023 at 05:33:32 PM
Hello, Wolf Pack!
Dailen here. Apologies for the quiet on our end—I was holding out reeeally hard for bigger news, but I can't stand to keep you in the dark any longer, so we're just gonna go ahead and drop a smaller update.
As always, we're still chugging along! Our last editorial call was extremely productive, and we'd like to give a huge shout-out to Sonja Synak and Tim Daniels for the amazing work they've done on WIFWULF so far. We're working hard to make sure this book is a visual feast from start to finish, and we (read: I) have learned so much about what it takes to turn a set of comic pages into a full graphic novel.
Last month was a bit of a whirlwind for Team WIFWULF, as we all made our annual appearance at San Diego Comic Con! Were you there? If so, you might've visited us during our Vault Comics panel and you might have seen a sneak peek at the new graphic design treatments for the cover of the book! And if not, you're in luck: I'm happy to share them right here.
Keep in mind: this is a work in progress shot and things are continuing to evolve as we work! So even this isn't the final book you'll hold in your hands ;)
Thank you SO much to everyone who came out to SDCC to say hello and to express your enthusiasm for the comic. We appreciate it so much, and even though this is more of a marathon than a sprint, we're still every bit as excited to share with you as we were on the first day of our launch!
And if you missed us this year, hopefully you can catch us next year instead!
Some other news:
We officially have four guest art pieces for the book, and each one is incredible, unique, and absolutely gorgeous. We can't wait for you to see them and fall in love—just like we did!
All of the book art and treatment is finished on my (Dailen's) end, which means now I can shift my focus to the backer rewards (ink drawings and commission portraits). Your ink drawings will be a surprise, but keep an eye out for an email from me about your portrait if you backed at that tier.
The latest news from Vault is that due to the fluctuation of paper and shipping costs, they want to hold off on sending out BackerKit surveys until the book is in print and we can more accurately gauge how much it's going to weigh. We apologize for not passing along this info sooner; it wasn't totally clear to us either but now we're all on the same page!
Some sharp eyed backers have begun to notice that WIFWULF has appeared on Simon & Schuster's site as well as Previews World and a few other places for preorder! Your eyes do not deceive you—the book is going to print very soon, and the finish line is getting closer on the horizon.
We hope you're as excited as we are, and that you have a wonderful week. If all goes to plan you'll be hearing from us soon!
Love and howls,
Dailen, Collin, and Jackson
June Wifwulf Update!
– Thu, Jun 29, 2023 at 12:21:31 PM
Hello, pack!
Dailen here. Just a short update for you, this time. We are so excited to announce that we officially have our first compiled PDF of WIFWULF in all its glory! Yayyy!!!
Did I spend like half an hour editing an adorable photo from the Wolf Conservation Center into a party scene for the bit? Yes, I did.
Coming in at a staggering 112 pages, this book is beefier than we promised and packed to the gills with all kinds of art and process work on top of the original story. While this doesn't mean it's ready to go to print just yet—there's still an editorial process and some tweaking to make it perfect—this is a HUGE step forward, and we're really thrilled!
The marathon isn't over yet, but we can see the finish line on the horizon and it's so great to see all the hard work beginning to pay off. When books do go to print, I'll start reaching out to specific backers about fulfilling commissions and other imporant goodies. Stay tuned!
Have a wonderful week, wolf pack!

WIFWULF Check In: May

Hello everyone!
Dailen here. Apologies for keeping you waiting on this update—my hope is to do each one mid-month, but in this case some personal life stuff got in the way. Thank you, as always, for your kindness, your patience, and your enthusiasm!
WIFWULF Pages
First up: thank you SO much to all the backers who participated in the WIFWULF Page Lottery. Of the 38 backers who are getting an artist proof page, 33 of you have gotten in your selections—I can't tell you how much we appreciate your prompt responses. Lots of people chose the same top pages, so apologies in advance if you don't get one of your picks, but I am doing my best to accommodate wherever and however I can.
If you're one of those 5 people still missing, don't fret! You'll still get a page regardless of whether or not we hear from you, and if you want to hedge your bets you're more than welcome to send us a message or an email, and I'll walk you through the page selection progress myself.
Thank you SO much for everyone who took a peek and left a compliment, either in the comments or in the google form. Your words mean so much to me and to the team, and your excitement for WIFWULF is joyous and indescribably contagious.
We're so excited, we could kiss you!

Two of our pieces are officially done, with a third one on the way! I'd hate to spoil them before the rest of the book, but here are some fun little previews to whet your whistle, from Jey Parks and Chris Shehan. We're confident that you're going to love them when you see them—our group chat was WILD when we did!

Book Progress
WIFWULF is still chugging along in its book build phase, where we combine the comic pages with the rest of our book's contents—the foreword and afterword, the concept art, and all the extra things you unlocked for us during the campaign! Jackson and Collin just finished writing an afterword to match the foreword I wrote, and I recently had the pleasure of doing the first editorial pass on their bonus prose story for the back of the book. I loved it, and I'm sure you will too—it's intense, thoughtful, and unexpected.
I, meanwhile, am filling the days by scanning in tons of my early WIFWULF concept art, and by drawing decorative elements for the incredible Tim Daniel to use however he sees fit in the book. I'm not sure what will make the final cut, but I'm having a ton of fun with it! Trawling sketchbooks and stacks of scrap paper for old drawings has been such a pleasant walk down memory lane, and it's amazing to see the shapes the Wifwulf herself has taken in her path to becoming what she is today.
I love the Briar Rose (aka the Dog Rose) as a motif—true to the theme of WIFWULF, it symbolizes both pleasure and pain.
